80 km of railway tracks renewed

In 2012, Arkil Rail completed a comprehensive track renovation project on the stretch of railway between Aalborg and Frederikshavn.

The tracks and points at ten different stations were removed, and the ballast and sub-ballast was replaced. New drainage was also established for the track bed.

Ballast and sub-ballast was replaced in 72 locations along the 80 km line, in lengths ranging from 10 to 485 metres.

Eleven level crossings were constructed, and the track beds on 20 bridges were replaced.

Furthermore, 26 km of ditches along the line were cleared and profiled. In Hjørring, a combined waterway and footpath tunnel was created through a 15 metre high railway embankment.
